GameStake Levels Up With Investment

The angel investment of £340,000, comes on top of a previous friends and family round of £150,000 and is funded by a group of individual investors, including two notable investors, Chris Armes and Nick Watkins.

Chris Armes is a noteworthy investor for the burgeoning start-up. Chris is currently CIO at Gaming Innovation Group, and though GameStake is a non-gambling entity, the synergies between gambling and esports make Chris a fantastic source of guidance and operating wisdom for the GameStake leadership team. Chris highlighted “a good, sound business model, and distinct strategies to address a market need” were his key reasons for investing in GameStake.

Nick Watkins brings with him a wealth of investment experience in fast-growing companies and in particular actively assisting such businesses to scale as a board member or adviser. For example, his firm led the angel seed round for Hadean, a London-based deep-tech distributed computing company that has successfully developed game-changing spatial simulation technologies that today serve multiple industries, not least the likes of CCP Games (EVE) and Microsoft (Minecraft).

GameStake CEO and Founder, Amit Puri, is quoted as saying “we are not only pleased to have raised this seed capital, but also are particularly pleased to have secured capital from some seasoned investors who we expect will prove to be an invaluable set of minds that help contribute to our future successes. We are excited about our mission to become one of the leading platforms globally for all forms of esports, as we continue to grow rapidly in this exciting space”.

GameStake plans to deploy the funds between key hires, new gaming content and user acquisition as it scales its operations. The GameStake platform is accessible to anyone across the globe, but currently only players from the UK and India are able to register for an account. At the point of raising the investment, GameStake had just over 6,000 signed up users, converting users at an impressive 22% conversion rate. As of now, the platform is only accessible via the web, but an iOS app will be launched in the coming months.
