Vlogging is HARD

When you look at all the famous Vloggers, you start to think that you can copy them and get the same results. WRONG. Vlogging is the trend thats been on the rise, when you ask a kid what they wanna do, they say “Vlogging”. It’s not an impossible goal, but it takes TIME.

Taking a step back a bit, vlogging is an ART. Every vlogger has their own style. They have a way of presenting information to you. They are all telling a STORY. Casey Neistat lays it out in a format tied with filmmaking. Logan and Jake Paul present the problem and then delve into their day. Basically, vlogging is a reality TV show. Vlogs need entertainment and personality, but more importantly, they need a story.

With everything you do, you need to work extra hard on understanding the field. With math, you gotta understand Algebra, Exponentials, Derivatives… With Medicine, you gotta understand how cells work, how the body reacts to different things, and how to diagnose diseases. With singing/songwriting, you become original through the lyrics you write… You pronounce words differently, you slowdown/speedup the tempo to give different vibes. You learn how the fundamentals work and then you develop your own style. You start to realize what goes well with what. You can combine different things together to get results. Ed Sheeran wasn’t a good singer/songwriter from the start. Peter McKinnon wasn’t a good cinematographer from the beginning. They all started by picking up something that interested them. After that, years of performing/years of editing got them to the point they are at right now.

With vlogging, you have guidelines.

Vlogging is a part of cinematography. You have to think well about how you present information to people. You gotta do that in a way that is engaging and displays you as a person. Like any story, your story needs a beginning, middle, and an end. With each and every video you make, you need to be able to present your day, conflict, and resolution. The way you present the stories allow for viewers to feel the connection and move onto liking and subscribing.

But do you wait for the perfect moment to start vlogging?

No

I think that it should be quantity over quality at first. The more of anything you do, the better you get. The more videos you have to edit, export, and publish, the quicker and better you will get. Obviously quantity is also tiring… you can have a bad video every once in a while, but the more you do something, the better you will get. Quantity always allows for that.

Vlogging is hard, but the more you do it, the better they will get. Have a story ready, put some ambient noise that sets the mood, and just do it.

DO IT😃

Have fun and keep working.
