Stand Up

They say words are just words. They say once you say something, you can never take it back. What do I say? I say “whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” A lot of people go through life depressed, alone, scared, because in some way they be abused in some way. Where does the abuse start? It starts within the family. A mother or a father or even a guardian. Shocking as it may sound, grandparents do it as well. They do it because of how they themselves, were raised. The difference is, they know it is wrong and they keep it going.

Let’s say that you are in high school, just doing your thing, walking down the hallway holding your books, as if it were any other day. All of sudden, WHAM, you feel this strength just push against you and you tumble to the ground. As you are picking up your books, you look up and see who had done it, the school bully. You are quickly picking up your books and you hear something….laughter. Everyone is laughing at you. They are not helping you, they are making it worse.

You wonder why the bullies do what they do. Some of them do it because it makes them feel power, it gives them the strength to do what they want. They continue to do it, because sadly the ones being bullied don’t do anything to stop it. They just let it happen. Another reason why bullies be bullies is because they are taking their hurt out on you. What their parents do to them, they want to do to someone else. It’s not okay.

Stand your ground and the bullies will stop. Don’t retaliate with hitting or saying mean things to them, because that just makes you a bully as well. Stand up for yourself and let them know how you feel about it. Show them that it does not bother you and it will stop.
